The 2-Day Pistol & Rifle Basics Course is designed for responsibly armed citizens who want to build a strong, reliable foundation with both handgun and rifle platforms. This course focuses on developing safe, efficient, and repeatable skills that translate to real-world application—not just range performance.
Whether you are new to firearms or looking to refine your fundamentals, this course provides a structured environment to learn how to handle, shoot, and manage both weapon systems with confidence and control.
Course Focus Areas
Safety & Fundamentals
- Firearm safety principles and range procedures
- Proper grip, stance, and body mechanics
- Trigger control and sight/dot management
Pistol Application
- Draw stroke and presentation from the holster (if applicable)
- Target engagement at varying distances
- Recoil management and follow-up shots
- Reloads and basic malfunction clearing
Rifle Application
- Rifle setup and zero confirmation
- Ready positions and efficient presentation
- Target transitions and recoil control
- Reloads and malfunction management
Performance & Efficiency
- Shooting with accountability at speed
- Visual processing and target focus
- Introduction to movement and positional shooting
- Building consistency under mild stress

Required Gear
Firearms
- Semi-automatic pistol (9mm recommended)
- Rifle/carbine (5.56/.223 or similar platform recommended)
Support Gear
- Pistol holster (outside-the-waistband preferred, covers trigger guard)
- Minimum 3 pistol magazines
- Minimum 3 rifle magazines
- Magazine pouches (belt-mounted or chest rig recommended)
- Sturdy belt
Safety & Comfort
- Eye & ear protection (mandatory)
- Brimmed hat (recommended)
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Closed-toe shoes/boots
- Hydration (water/electrolytes)
- Food/snacks for the day
- Sunscreen / rain gear as needed
Optional but Recommended
- Weapon-mounted light (pistol and/or rifle)
- Knee pads
- Note-taking material
Round Count (Approximate)
- Pistol: 400 – 600 rounds
- Rifle: 400 – 600 rounds
